Welcome to Main Street Medical Centre

Main Street Medical Centre is a GP Practice based in the East End of Glasgow at Bridgeton Cross.

We are now on Social Media!

You can follow us on Social Media for all up-to-date information on local services and health campaigns.
Click on the images above to take you to our social media pages.

Please do not use Facebook or Twitter for appointment or prescription requests.

From 19 July 2021, Glasgow City has moved to Level 0 and guidance continues from NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde and Health Protection Scotland for GP practices to operate a telephone triage system. This still means that the practice remains open although all appointment requests will be initially completed on the telephone by the GP. Should you need assessed, the GP will arrange a face-to-face appointment to see you at the practice.

We are now able to offer patients a video consultation with a GP or Practice Nurse. Please click here to find out more, or speak to a member of our staff on 0141 739 6666 to get further information.

When entering the practice, we ask that when presenting at our main desk and waiting area, patients and service users observe social distancing and stand on the social distancing markings on our floor to maintain safety to our patients and staff members. A one way system is in place and should be followed, and hand sanitising stations are available throughout the surgery.

Please remember, that all patients should follow FACTS:

If you have any of the following symptoms, please DO NOT attend the surgery:

  • High temperature or fever
  • New continuous cough
  • Change in the sense of taste or smell

Should you present with any of the above symptoms, please isolate and arrange a test on NHS Inform.

If you are self-isolating, you do not need a note from the GP. Please visit and complete the online form. A copy of this will be sent to your e-mail.

Please continue to visit for up-to-date guidance and information.

We are aware that a lot of people have access to COVID-19 Lateral Flow Tests at home.

Please note that if you have any symptoms of a possible COVID-19 infection (cough, temperature, new shortness of breath), the only suitable test is a PCR test, booked via or by phoning 119.

We are also aware that patients with the new Delta variant are experiencing slightly different symptoms (e.g. sore throat, runny nose, aching muscles and headaches) and would ask you to book a PCR test if you develop these symptoms.

Lateral Flow Tests are not reliable enough to rule out symptomatic COVID-19 infection and should only be used for people who do not have symptoms (when screening for very mild infection). They have also not to be used if you have been told to self-isolate or have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 90 days.

If you contact the surgery with symptoms of possible COVID-19 infection you will be asked to self-isolate and organise a PCR test, even if you have already undertaken a Lateral Flow Test.

Main Street Medical Centre is delighted to announce that we have successfully finished our COVID-19 immunisation programme to our patient group aged 75 years and over as well as patients who are currently on the Shielding register.

All other patients should receive an appointment date and time from the National Booking System.

If you wish to reschedule your vaccination appointment, please click here or call the Scottish COVID-19 Vaccination Helpline on 0800 030 8013.

To encourage as many people as possible have access to a COVID-19 vaccination, NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde is changing the criteria for their drop-in clinics.

Drop-ins will be open to those who have not had a first dose of vaccine, and those who have waited over 8 weeks for their second dose and do not have an appointment booked.

The drop-in centres are offering Pfizer to people aged 18 to 39 and AstraZeneca is available for people aged 40 years old and over as a first dose. They are also offering second doses to anyone who is eight weeks from their first AstraZeneca vaccination.

To view the timetable for the COVID-19 vaccination drop-in centres, please visit or follow our Facebook page here where we are sharing the venues each day.

For further information on the COVID-19 vaccination, please visit NHSinform here.
